The content on this website is sparce. Like a spider plant, it may grow exponentially, developing its own offshoot websites. Or, it may wither on the bathroom shelf.
Here is the cover for my first novel, Three Graves. The beautiful image was created by Pushkin. The book will be published on 23 September and the launch, all being well, will be at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Manchester. Pre-orders should be available shortly. Visit the Bluemoose website for more details.
Three Graves published by Bluemoose Books in 2021
Bluemoose Books, celebrated indie publisher, will release my debut novel in 2021 (date TBC). The novel explores three significant moments in the life of writer and composer Anthony Burgess.
Aesthetica Creative Writing Award 2019
My short story ‘Louish & Benim’ won the Aesthetica Award 2019. Katy Guest, one of the prize’s judges, said: ‘This is a sensuous story about love, war, loss and betrayal, and about the power of language itself. It shows how words can create worlds. It is an exceptionally skilful use of the form that bears reading again and again’.
Bridport First Novel Award 2019
My novel, Dismember the Past (now Three Graves), was longlisted for the Bridport Prize in 2019. I was particularly pleased to have made the longlist as the Bridport is a prize I have followed and admired for as long as I have been writing seriously.
